Hello! I'm Kate O'Connell, a Product & Creative Director with dedicated experience in the progressive, activist, and foundational space. I believe that is possible to effect immediate progressive change by creating accessible and impactful digital products. I am committed and resolved in my life that through whatever role I currently occupy, I will continue to use my experience, the dedication to my team, and my passion for affecting critical change in this world in order to fight for positive and progressive change.
Following the 2016 election, I made a conscious decision to shift my career from working with Fortune 500’s and top entertainment studios into the values-aligned field of civic tech. I recognize that the skills and privileges that I have can be better used in pursuit of a just future. My foundation in user experience, branding, and marketing for corporate digital agencies gives me a robust understanding of user-centered product design necessary to create engaging, empathic, and impactful digital experiences.
I have worked with some of the most impactful political figures and non-profit organizations: President Obama, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, MeToo, Giffords, M4BL, The Clooney Foundation, Chris Murphy, Teamsters, Oceans Conservancy, People For The American Way, and Transparency International, and I have had the privilege of interfacing and collaborating with some of today’s top activists and change-makers, including Tara Burke, Amal Clooney, Ben Jealous, and Marianne Williamson.
I am presently the Head of Product Design for the Obama Foundation.
